Vancity: Stable, but growth for advisors is tough
Pros: The team in my Vancouver branch is great. Everyone's pretty supportive. We get solid benefits, and the pay for a financial advisor is okay. It's a decent place for stability in the credit union industry.
Cons: Career growth is super slow as a Financial Advisor. There just aren't many clear paths to move up. Internal promotions for financial services roles are rare. You can feel like you're stuck doing the same thing for years.
Advice to Management: They should create clearer paths for career advancement, especially for experienced Financial Advisors. Offer more training for leadership or specialized financial services roles.

Pay is Okay, Benefits are Pretty Good
Pros: For a Financial Services Advisor, the benefits package here is actually quite good. We got decent health and dental coverage, and the RRSP matching contribution was a nice perk. It's solid for the banking industry in Vancouver.
Cons: The base salary for my role wasn't really competitive with some of the bigger banks. There's not much room to negotiate salary when you start. It feels a bit lower than what you'd expect in a high cost of living city like Vancouver, especially for a financial services position.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing the base salary ranges for client-facing roles like Financial Services Advisors. Making compensation more competitive would help attract and retain top talent in the Vancouver market.
