Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as a Team Leader in Retail Operations at Woolworths. The team environment is genuinely supportive, and I've learned so much about the supermarket industry and operational management. There are always opportunities for internal growth if you put in the effort. Plus, for a large retail company, they've been quite understanding with my scheduling needs, offering good work flexibility which is a huge plus.
Cons: Like any large retail operation, there are definitely busy periods, especially during holidays, which can be demanding. Sometimes, getting approvals for new initiatives can feel a bit slow due to the size of the company. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's something to be aware of if you're looking for super fast-paced changes.
Advice to Management: Continue to empower store-level leadership with more autonomy to make quicker decisions on local initiatives. Streamlining some of the internal approval processes could really help boost agility and responsiveness.

I've had good opportunities for learning and development, constantly picking up new skills in retail analytics and supply chain. Woolworths Group offers a pretty stable environment, especially for a large company in the fast-paced grocery industry. They really do try to promote work-life balance, especially in corporate roles, which is a big plus for me. The employee discount is also a nice perk!

Career progression, while available, sometimes requires you to actively seek out new roles internally rather than it being a natural upward path.
