Great Flexibility and Learning Opportunities
Pros: I've really appreciated the work flexibility here as a Software Engineer. The hybrid model works perfectly, allowing for a good work-life balance. My colleagues are supportive, and I've learned a lot in software development. The culture is pretty collaborative.
Cons: Project approval processes can sometimes feel a bit slow, leading to minor delays. Occasional busy periods happen, but they aren't the norm. Wish communication across teams was always smoother.
Advice to Management: Focus on refining cross-team communication channels and streamlining some of the longer approval workflows to speed up project delivery. Keeping the flexible work options is also key for employee satisfaction.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Could Be Better
Pros: The hybrid model is a solid start for a tech company. Being able to come into the San Francisco office for collaborative work as a Software Engineer is nice. You get some of that in-person feel without being totally stuck onsite.
Cons: It's not really flexible though. Specific in-office days are mandatory, so you can't just pick when you come in. It feels more like a fixed schedule disguised as hybrid, especially for engineering roles that could easily be more remote.
Advice to Management: Seriously reconsider the mandatory in-office days. Trust your engineering teams more to manage their time. For many Software Engineer roles, more true remote flexibility would really boost morale and productivity.

Decent Flex, But Watch Out for Crunch Times
Pros: As a Software Engineer at Skydo, I've found the work flexibility to be pretty decent. You can often adjust your start and end times, which is a big help if you're working a hybrid schedule in San Francisco or fully remote.
Cons: It's not perfect though; there's still pressure to align with core team hours, especially for critical meetings. This can make truly flexible days tough, and it's not always easy for remote employees to feel fully integrated when important discussions happen spontaneously in the office.
Advice to Management: Keep pushing for more asynchronous work and genuinely flexible schedules. Trust your teams to manage their time and deliver results, especially for remote software development roles.

Job security feels decent, for now
Pros: As a remote Software Engineer, there's a lot of interesting project work to do. My immediate engineering team feels pretty stable, and we've got solid leadership on our projects. The benefits package is actually quite good, which helps.
Cons: There's always some layoff chatter, especially for software development roles across the wider company. We've seen a lot of team restructures, which makes people nervous about their long-term position. It's tough to feel completely secure in this big tech environment.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about company direction and any potential restructures impacting teams. Clear communication helps reduce employee anxiety and improves overall morale.

Startup Life, So-So Job Security Here
Pros: I liked the team culture; everyone was really supportive. For a junior software engineer, I got to work on some cool projects and learn a lot. Plus, the flexible remote work setup was a huge plus for my schedule.
Cons: The job security, though? Not great. There's always talk about funding rounds and potential layoffs in this startup environment. It makes you feel a bit on edge, especially for remote team members during industry downturns.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about the company's financial health. Clear communication about job security would really help reduce anxiety among the remote software engineer team.

Learning A Lot, But Promotions Are Tough
Pros: You definitely learn a ton here, especially as a Software Engineer joining a growing tech startup. There are always new projects and challenges to tackle. Plus, the remote work flexibility is a huge plus for work-life balance.
Cons: Career progression isn't super clear for Software Engineer roles. It's hard to see a path for promotions, especially once you're past the junior level. Feels like you hit a ceiling pretty quickly if you're looking for upward mobility.

Pay is Decent, Benefits Need Attention
Pros: As a Software Engineer working remotely, the base salary here is actually pretty decent for a startup. They do offer unlimited PTO, which is a nice perk, and the health insurance is okay.
Cons: The biggest issue is the lack of a strong 401k match, which feels behind other tech companies. Stock options aren't as competitive as you'd find in bigger tech firms, so long-term wealth building is tougher.
Advice to Management: Really look at the 401k matching and stock options to make the total compensation more attractive. It would help retain talent in this competitive AI development space.
