Decent Pay for Software Engineers, Benefits Need Work
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here is actually pretty competitive, especially within the lottery industry. You can expect a decent 401k match, which is good. Remote work flexibility, even for those of us operating remote from Texas, is a big pro too.
Cons: Health insurance costs are really high, which eats into the overall compensation. Annual raises aren't always great for a mid-sized company, and there aren't many other perks beyond the basics. It's tough to feel fully rewarded.
Advice to Management: Take a hard look at the benefits package, especially healthcare premiums. More competitive annual raises or a bonus structure would make a big difference in retaining talent, particularly for those of us as Software Engineers.

Okay for starting, tough to move up
Pros: As a Junior Data Analyst, I got a good intro to the lottery industry here. My team in the Austin, TX corporate office was really supportive. I learned a lot about data analysis tools quickly.
Cons: It's hard to find real career growth opportunities though. Internal promotions are pretty rare for analytics roles. There isn't much formal training for skill development beyond the basics.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into creating clear career paths for analysts. Invest in more advanced training programs and actively promote from within.

Hybrid Model is Okay, But Could Be Better
Pros: They do offer some hybrid work, which is nice. I could be in the office 2-3 days a week as a Marketing Coordinator. The benefits package is solid, and you get some leeway with start/end times too.
Cons: True work flexibility can be tough. Some teams are stuck with stricter onsite schedules, especially if you're not in a senior role. While it's hybrid, there's pressure to be in their corporate office more often than initially advertised. It feels less flexible than I expected for the lottery industry.
Advice to Management: Really commit to the advertised hybrid model. Trust your employees more, especially for roles where onsite isn't crucial. Re-evaluate the purpose of the in-office days.

Leadership is okay, but needs consistency
Pros: Direct managers are usually supportive and helpful. The hybrid work arrangement in the Austin office is a good perk. It's a pretty stable corporate environment, which is typical for the gaming industry.
Cons: Senior leadership feels pretty disconnected from daily operations. Communication from the top is often unclear, especially for marketing roles. This causes project delays and makes long-term planning tough.
Advice to Management: Focus on better communication and clearer vision from senior leadership. Try to get more input from frontline teams before making big decisions. Consistency would go a long way.

Work-life balance is a real struggle here
Pros: I've learned a lot about the gaming industry, especially with new lottery games. The team in the Atlanta office is generally supportive, and some days were genuinely engaging. There's decent job security in this corporate environment.
Cons: Work-life balance is pretty bad, especially as a Marketing Coordinator. Expect long hours, particularly around big jackpot deadlines. It's often onsite, so there's not much work flexibility when things get crazy.
Advice to Management: Managers need to respect personal time more. Don't expect people to always be 'on' after hours.

Hybrid work is fine, but needs true remote
Pros: I do appreciate the option for hybrid work. It's not fully remote, but having a few days in the Austin, TX office helps with team connection. For a corporate lottery company, this setup is pretty solid.
Cons: True work-from-home flexibility isn't really an option here. My Data Analyst role often felt tied to specific in-office days. It's tough if you're looking for full remote freedom.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more truly remote options for certain roles. It would help attract and retain top talent, especially in this competitive job market for tech and data professionals.
