Work-life balance can be tough at times
Pros: I like the hybrid model here; it's great to work remote a couple of days. We get decent PTO. Managers are usually cool if you need an afternoon off, especially for us Software Engineer roles.
Cons: Sprint cycles get really intense, especially before a big release. It's expected you're always on, which makes disconnecting tough. This is a common thing in software development, though, so it's not unique to our San Francisco office.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce stricter boundaries around sprint deadlines to prevent burnout. Maybe more structured 'no meeting' blocks during deep work times.

Work-life balance is decent for most engineers
Pros: I've mostly had good work-life balance as a Software Engineer here. The remote flexibility means I can often manage personal stuff without issue. For software development roles, it's generally a 40-hour week outside of major releases.
Cons: Project deadlines can be super tight, especially at month-end. It's not uncommon to pull 50+ hour weeks during crunch time, which really hurts personal time. The pressure from product can sometimes build up quickly.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scope better to avoid last-minute crunch periods. It really impacts employee well-being and burns people out.
