Work-life balance is hit or miss here
Pros: The work itself can be pretty interesting, especially on flight simulation projects. As a Software Engineer, you get to tackle some complex problems and learn a lot. There's also decent job security, which is good for a big corporate defense contractor.
Cons: Work-life balance can get really tough when project deadlines are tight. You'll often put in more than 40 hour weeks, especially in the Tampa office. It's hard to maintain personal commitments sometimes, which is a big negative for me.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project timelines more realistically and empower team leads to push back on impossible deadlines. Employee well-being is important, and burnout is real.

Leadership Can Be Hit or Miss Here
Pros: As a Software Engineer, I enjoyed working on some pretty cool flight simulation projects. The teams are generally solid and collaborative. It's a stable defense contractor, which is good for job security.
Cons: Upper management often feels a bit disconnected from our daily work in the Tampa, FL office. Decision-making is slow, which can be frustrating. There isn't always clear direction from leadership.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to bridge the gap between their strategies and what individual contributors, especially in engineering roles, actually need. More transparent communication and faster decision-making would help.

Okay place for engineers, but culture needs work.
Pros: The job stability is solid, which is a big plus in the aerospace industry. Benefits like healthcare are decent. You learn a lot if you're keen on defense contracting.
Cons: The culture can feel pretty old-school. There's not much flexibility for hybrid work, most people are expected onsite at the Tampa office. Innovation sometimes gets stifled by all the bureaucracy.
Advice to Management: Try to embrace more modern work practices, especially around flexibility. Listen to the younger engineering talent and empower them to innovate without so many layers of approval. It'd really boost morale.
