Good Work-Life Balance and Fun Brands
Pros: As a Product Marketing Specialist, I appreciate Mattel's supportive culture and the chance to work on iconic toy brands. The hybrid work arrangement in El Segundo offers great flexibility, helping achieve a good work-life balance. There are also solid learning opportunities in consumer goods marketing.
Cons: Career growth can feel slow at times. Also, some internal approval processes are quite lengthy, which can delay projects. Better cross-departmental communication would boost efficiency.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining internal approval workflows and investing in tools or processes to improve cross-departmental communication, which would accelerate project delivery and foster a more agile environment. Explore mentorship programs to help develop career paths for existing employees.

Decent Benefits, Pay Could Use a Boost
Pros: The health insurance is great, really comprehensive. Dental and vision too. They offer a good 401k match, which is a big plus in a big corporate setting. The hybrid work model for the El Segundo office is also nice, giving some flexibility.
Cons: Salary for many product development roles, especially entry-level Associate Product Managers, feels a bit low for Southern California. Raises aren't huge, and it's tough to negotiate a higher base pay when you start. It feels like they rely on the benefits package to compensate.
Advice to Management: Review compensation bands for product development and marketing roles. Make sure salaries are competitive with other consumer products companies in the Los Angeles area, especially for critical Associate Product Manager positions. Don't just rely on the brand name.

Hybrid Work is Okay, Some Teams Are Better
Pros: I really appreciate the hybrid work model here. Being in the El Segundo office a few days and remote the rest is super helpful for my schedule. It's a solid perk for those of us in consumer products.
Cons: Work flexibility can really depend on your specific team and manager. Some departments are much more strict about onsite days. It's not always consistent across the whole corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid policy across all departments. It would help a lot with employee morale and perceived fairness. Consistency in remote options is key for a large company like Mattel.
