Pros: The job security for a large general contractor is good, which is a big plus. You get to work on some impressive heavy civil construction projects. The team camaraderie on construction sites is generally strong too.
Cons: Work-life balance is definitely a struggle, with long hours being pretty common. Project deadlines mean you're often putting in extra time, and true work flexibility isn't really a thing. It's mostly onsite work, so remote options are basically zero.
Advice to Management: Consider how project timelines impact employee burnout. More support staff or better resource allocation could really help with the workload for onsite roles.
