Leadership is Okay, but Needs More Vision
Pros: I appreciated the job security that comes with government contracts; it's a solid mid-sized company. The benefits package for us in the Arlington, VA office was pretty good, especially healthcare coverage. My immediate team was supportive, making the day-to-day for a Systems Engineer manageable.
Cons: Leadership often seemed out of touch with project realities, especially for my specific technical role on various programs. There's not a lot of clear career growth path defined by management, which can be frustrating. Decision-making sometimes felt slow and lacked transparency from upper leadership.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving communication from the top down. Invest more in clear career development plans for employees in technical roles, especially for those working on long-term government contracts. A more transparent hybrid work model would also be beneficial.

Pay is okay, benefits are solid here
Pros: The health insurance plans are pretty solid, definitely better than some other mid-sized government contractors. They offer a decent 401k match, which is a big plus for long-term planning, especially for engineering roles.
Cons: The base pay for Junior Systems Engineer positions feels a bit low for the Northern Virginia market. It's tough to get significant raises, even when you're performing well on those critical government projects.
Advice to Management: Review the compensation structure, especially for entry-level engineering roles, to be more competitive. It's hard to attract top talent in this defense contracting space with current salaries.
