Solid Company, Growth Can Be Slow for Sales
Pros: You'll learn a ton about construction products; that's a big plus. There's good annual training if you seek it out, which helps sales professionals stay sharp. It's a very stable, large corporate environment.
Cons: For Sales Representative roles, career growth feels slow. Clear advancement paths aren't always obvious. Promotions don't come easily for most of us here. You often just wait for an open spot.
Advice to Management: Create clearer, more transparent pathways for career progression for sales roles, especially for those in building materials. Actively promote from within and don't make it solely dependent on someone leaving.

Some flexibility, but it's not for all roles
Pros: As an Operations Coordinator in the Atlanta, GA corporate office, I did get a decent hybrid schedule. It's usually 3 days in office, 2 days WFH, which works fine for me. For corporate roles in the building products industry, that's not bad.
Cons: However, this isn't true for many. Onsite manufacturing jobs have very strict hours, no flexibility there at all. If you're not in a specific desk job, forget about work flexibility here.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more consistent hybrid or flexible work options across all eligible corporate roles. It would help a lot with retention for those roles.

Decent Balance, Tough During Peak Season
Pros: Most of the time, the work-life balance is pretty solid. As an Operations Manager in the Atlanta, GA office, you can usually keep to reasonable 40-50 hour weeks. It's a stable job in construction materials manufacturing, which is reassuring.
Cons: Peak season in the building products industry is brutal. Expect 60+ hour weeks and frequent weekend calls. There's not much work flexibility for onsite roles, which really cuts into personal time when things get busy.
Advice to Management: Consider hiring more seasonal staff to manage the heavy workload during peak times. It would significantly improve the work-life balance for long-term employees.
