Hybrid Model Exists, But It's Not Always Flexible
Pros: I appreciate that Operation Smile offers a hybrid model for some roles, especially in the Virginia Beach office. It's nice to have a few days working from home. As a Program Coordinator, you also get to be part of truly meaningful global health work, which is a big pro.
Cons: The work flexibility really depends on your team and manager; it's not consistent for all Program Coordinator roles. It's tough to truly disconnect because of the international nature of this NGO. Expect some calls very early or late to accommodate other time zones, impacting personal time.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid model and work flexibility policies across departments, especially for global health teams. Give managers clearer guidelines so it's fair for everyone. Also, consider more support for managing international time zone demands.

Mission is great, but work-life balance struggles
Pros: The mission of this non-profit healthcare organization is incredibly inspiring. You truly feel like your work matters, especially supporting medical missions. The team in the Virginia Beach office is generally passionate and supportive.
Cons: The work-life balance here is pretty tough. As a Program Coordinator, I often found myself working well over 40 hours a week, sometimes pushing 50 during peak planning for international medical missions. Boundaries often blur, and it's hard to truly disconnect from this international NGO.
Advice to Management: Management should really look at how to better support team members like Program Coordinators. Clearer expectations on work hours and better resource allocation, especially around mission times, would help prevent burnout.
