Work-Life Balance is Okay, Project Dependent
Pros: Honestly, as a Manufacturing Engineer here, the schedule can be solid when production isn't crazy. You can usually get your 40-hour weeks in if there aren't major launches for new automotive parts.
Cons: But when we have a big project or an assembly line issue, forget it. Overtime is expected, and work-life balance really suffers. It's tough being an onsite corporate engineer during those crunch times in the Detroit area.
Advice to Management: Management needs to staff better for peak times. Relying on constant overtime for critical automotive projects isn't sustainable for long-term employee morale.

Okay Hybrid, Could Use More Trust
Pros: As a Manufacturing Engineer, I did appreciate the option for a hybrid schedule. It was good to have a few days working from home, especially since the Detroit office commute can be rough.
Cons: Even with the hybrid setup, it still felt like we needed to be onsite for a lot of things that could be done remotely. There's an expectation in this corporate environment, typical for the automotive industry, that face-time matters more than results sometimes. Full WFH isn't really an option for my role.
Advice to Management: Trust employees more with remote work capabilities. Re-evaluate what truly needs onsite presence versus what can be done effectively from home, especially for non-production roles. Modernize flexibility policies for the automotive sector.

Stable Job, Slow Career Growth at Marelli
Pros: I've learned tons about automotive manufacturing processes here. The job security is pretty decent, which is nice. Our onsite role has a good team vibe in the Auburn Hills, MI office.
Cons: Career growth as a Process Engineer is really slow. It's tough to move up or even change departments. There aren't many clear paths for advancement for existing employees, which is frustrating.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer internal career paths for technical roles. Invest more in developing current employees. Make it easier for people to transition between departments.
