Solid company, but flexibility is tough for technical roles
Pros: The pay and benefits package is pretty solid for a large company in consumer electronics. I got decent health coverage and a good 401k match. Job security felt high, which is nice in this economy. My team in the Newark, NJ office was also really great and supportive.
Cons: Work flexibility is a real challenge here. As a Software Engineer, they pushed hard for a 5-day onsite policy post-pandemic, which felt outdated. It's tough when you're used to more hybrid options. The lack of remote work options made it hard to manage personal life sometimes.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more flexible work options, especially for technical roles. Many skilled engineers expect hybrid or remote possibilities now. This would help attract and retain top talent in manufacturing and consumer electronics.

Leadership is okay, but often slow to adapt
Pros: You get really solid job security here, which is great for a large corporate environment. The pay and benefits are quite decent for a Software Engineer, especially the health coverage. It's a stable place to be in the electronics industry.
Cons: Leadership can feel a bit out of touch sometimes, honestly. It's tough seeing new project ideas get slowed down by bureaucracy at the top. There's not always a super clear direction, which makes things complicated for us engineers.
Advice to Management: Upper management needs to empower teams more and embrace quicker decision-making. Encourage innovation instead of getting bogged down in bureaucracy.

Job security is decent, but things change fast
Pros: Working for a big corporate like Panasonic does offer a base level of stability. The benefits are solid, and as a Manufacturing Engineer, there are often interesting projects in the consumer electronics industry.
Cons: However, even in the Newark, NJ office, I've seen departments restructured and projects moved. It makes you wonder about the long-term for specific onsite manufacturing roles. Layoffs aren't super common, but they do happen sometimes, which can be stressful.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate changes and potential impacts on employee roles earlier. Transparency around organizational shifts would really help boost morale and reduce anxiety about job security.
