Pros: I appreciated the trust they gave me as a Project Manager on certain projects. There's a decent amount of autonomy if you're hitting your deadlines. The hybrid model was a nice step forward for our Birmingham office.
Cons: Work flexibility is still pretty limited overall. You're mostly expected onsite, especially in heavy equipment manufacturing. It's not really a WFH-friendly corporate environment for most roles.
Advice to Management: Consider allowing more remote days for roles that don't require physical presence. Trusting employees with more work flexibility can improve morale and retention, especially for roles like ours in the utility solutions sector.

Pros: As a Field Service Technician, the hourly pay rate was actually pretty solid, especially for the heavy equipment industry. You're usually paid for travel too, which helps when you're always onsite.
Cons: The health benefits packages weren't great, honestly. Deductibles felt pretty high, and the 401k match wasn't as competitive as I've seen at other corporate companies.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into improving the health insurance options and boosting the 401k match. Better benefits would help retain skilled Field Service Technicians.

Pros: For a Manufacturing Engineer, the job security here is pretty good. Altec is a big corporate environment in heavy machinery manufacturing, so there's a lot of stability. You don't often hear about big layoffs, which is a huge plus.
Cons: While job security is high, career growth can feel pretty slow sometimes. It's a large company, and moving up the ladder or getting significant pay bumps takes a long time. It's not ideal if you're looking for fast-paced advancement.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer paths for career progression and more competitive compensation. It would help motivate employees beyond just the stable job environment.
