Pros: The team in the Dallas area is generally supportive. You get set schedules, which can be good if you like routine. It's a stable job in senior care, which is nice.
Cons: Work-life balance is tough because there's not much WFH. As a Care Coordinator, you're always onsite for residents. Shifts are rigid; swapping is really hard.
Advice to Management: Try to offer even a little flexibility where possible, especially for experienced staff. It would really help with burnout for those in direct senior care roles.

Pros: It's a big company, so there are some procedures in place. I got decent experience working directly with residents, which is good for anyone starting in senior care. The teams usually support each other at the community level.
Cons: Career growth is pretty slow here for non-clinical roles. I felt stuck as a Resident Program Coordinator. There weren't many clear paths to move up unless you wanted to go into nursing. Promotions felt more about who you knew.
Advice to Management: Brookdale really needs to develop clearer internal career pathways. Especially for those in program or administrative roles. Invest in training and mentorship for employees who want to advance beyond their current position.

Pros: The hourly pay for an Activities Coordinator felt fair for the amount of work. They offer a 401k match, which is a solid plus. It's stable work in the healthcare industry.
Cons: Healthcare benefits were expensive, which really cut into my take-home pay. Paid time off (PTO) accrual was slow, so it's tough to take vacations. There aren't many extra perks or bonuses for caregiver roles.
Advice to Management: Review the cost of employee healthcare plans and consider improving PTO accrual rates. Better benefits would really help retain staff in the senior living sector.
