Decent for short-term, but job security is a concern.
Pros: The teams are generally collaborative, and I learned a lot about healthcare IT solutions. The Richmond, VA office environment is pretty friendly, and you get to work with some smart people. They do offer a hybrid model which is a plus.
Cons: Job security isn't great, honestly. There's a lot of project-based work, and when a contract ends, you hear rumors. For IT support roles, it feels like they don't invest much in long-term staff development. Pay and benefits were just okay, nothing special for the industry.
Advice to Management: Focus more on retaining good talent and making job security a priority. Invest in long-term employee development, especially for those in software implementation and support.

Decent for work-life, but watch the client projects
Pros: Work-life balance can be pretty good, especially if you're on a stable internal project or a less demanding client. I often got my 40 hours in as a Software Engineer. The WFH setup they have is solid, which helps a lot with personal appointments and avoiding the commute in Herndon, VA traffic.
Cons: Some client projects in the healthcare IT sector can be super intense. Deadlines are tight, and you'll put in extra hours, which impacts your work-life balance a lot. There's not much flexibility once a project goes off track; management expects you to just power through.
Advice to Management: Try to manage client expectations better from the start. Support your IT consultant teams more when projects hit rough patches, instead of just pushing for more hours.

Job Security is Okay, But Project-Dependent
Pros: If you're staffed on a good, long-term project as a Software Engineer, job security feels pretty solid. My client project in the IT consulting industry lasted over two years, which was nice. Benefits like health insurance were always consistent.
Cons: There's always a worry about what happens between projects. If your client engagement ends, you're on the bench, and sometimes that's short-term. I've seen some layoffs happen when big clients pull back their contracts, especially for folks who were remote from Dallas, TX and not quickly redeployed.
Advice to Management: Focus on internal projects to retain talent when client work slows. Create a more robust bench strategy to provide stability between client engagements.

Okay Flexibility, Especially for Technical Roles
Pros: As a Software Engineer in this Healthcare IT company, I've had good work flexibility. It's nice to have hybrid model options, working remote from Atlanta a couple of days a week. The WFH setup is solid after you're past initial training.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't as good for other teams, like project management roles. Sometimes the corporate environment feels a bit rigid with those expectations. It's a clear difference between departments.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility across all departments, not just for technical roles. It would improve morale and show a more modern corporate approach to work-life balance.

Decent Benefits, Pay Could Be Better for IT Consultants
Pros: The health insurance package is solid, and there's a good 401k match, which is a big plus. For a mid-sized tech company, they do offer a decent benefits package. It's nice to have in the Atlanta, GA office.
Cons: Base salary for an IT Consultant in healthcare IT could definitely be higher. Raises aren't always what you'd hope for, even after successful integration projects. It feels like they could do more for compensation.
Advice to Management: Look into market rates for IT Consultant salaries in the Atlanta, GA area. Competitive compensation is key to retaining talent, especially in specialized healthcare IT roles.

Stable, but career growth is slow
Pros: You get solid experience with enterprise software and system integrations. For a Software Engineer, the work itself is often interesting enough. The team is collaborative, and it's a stable IT services firm.
Cons: Career growth is really slow, to be honest. There aren't many clear paths to advance, especially if you're remote from Dallas. It feels like you hit a ceiling fast here, and opportunities for new tech skills are limited.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clear career ladders for technical roles. Invest in professional development and offer more chances for skill diversification, especially for remote employees.
