Stable Environment with Caring People in Senior Living
Pros: I really enjoy working here as an Administrative Assistant within the senior living industry. The team at my regional office in Brentwood, TN, is incredibly supportive and we all pitch in when needed. I've learned a lot about healthcare administration and it's rewarding to contribute to a place that cares for seniors. There's good flexibility with managing my daily tasks, which helps a lot. It’s a stable company with meaningful work.
Cons: Sometimes, the internal approval processes can feel a bit slow, especially for new initiatives. There are also periods when we're a bit short-staffed, which means things get pretty busy and can impact my schedule, though it's manageable. Communication from corporate sometimes feels a bit generalized for our specific needs at the regional level.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining some of the corporate approval processes to empower regional teams more. Improving clarity and consistency in corporate-to-regional communication would also be beneficial.

Great Place to Grow in Senior Care
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as an Activity Coordinator at Century Park Associates. The team is incredibly supportive, and we all genuinely care about the residents. There are solid learning opportunities, especially in person-centered care and activities planning. It's rewarding to see the impact you have, and I feel like I'm contributing to a vital industry. If you're looking for a mission-driven workplace in senior living, this is a good spot to build your career.
Cons: The workload can sometimes be quite intense, especially during peak holiday seasons or special resident events, which can impact work-life balance slightly. While there are pathways for career growth, sometimes the promotion process can feel a bit slow, requiring proactive self-advocacy for advancement within the senior living communities. Better communication between departments would also improve daily operations.
Advice to Management: Consider streamlining the internal promotion process and enhance inter-departmental communication to ensure everyone is on the same page. Investing in more staffing during busy periods would also help manage workloads better.

It's a stable company in the service industry, offering consistent work and hands-on learning for operational skills. Leadership is generally approachable and focused on getting things done effectively.
Cons: Career progression can feel a bit slow unless you're very proactive. Also, some internal documentation could be improved for better clarity. Occasional busy periods can sometimes challenge work-life balance.

Okay Work-Life, But Be Ready for Senior Living Demands
Pros: You can usually get a pretty consistent schedule once you're settled, especially for a resident assistant role. This helps with planning outside of work. The team at our Nashville, TN community often helps each other out, which makes tough shifts a bit easier to handle.
Cons: However, short staffing in elder care is a real problem and can totally throw off your work-life balance. You might have to cover extra shifts, which means longer hours. Weekend shifts are pretty much expected for care staff, which isn't always fun.
Advice to Management: Try to get better staffing levels for care staff across all senior living communities. It would really help with burnout and make work-life balance more achievable for everyone.

Pretty Fixed Schedules for Senior Living Roles
Pros: The team is pretty supportive, which helps when you're dealing with challenging days. You get pretty consistent hours for an onsite role, so you know what to expect with your paycheck. They do offer basic benefits which is a plus.
Cons: Work flexibility here isn't great, especially as a Wellness Coordinator. Swapping shifts can be tough, and management isn't always keen on it. There's almost no remote work option, which makes sense for the senior living industry, but it can be exhausting.
Advice to Management: Maybe look into creative ways to offer more flexibility, even for onsite roles. It would really help with employee morale and retention in the senior living industry.

Okay benefits, but pay could be better
Pros: The health benefits package is actually pretty solid. For onsite assisted living roles, having decent medical coverage is a big deal, and they offer that.
Cons: Base pay is tough, especially for an Activities Coordinator here in Knoxville, TN. It's hard to make ends meet, and raises don't come easy. I felt like pay was often below market rate for this industry.
Advice to Management: You've got to invest more in competitive wages for your direct care and activities staff. It's tough to retain good people when they can find better pay in other senior living facilities.
