Decent Work-Life Balance for Engineers at Credence
Pros: For Software Engineer roles, the hybrid work setup in Austin, TX is pretty decent. You get a solid amount of PTO. People don't bother you on weekends, which is nice for a big tech company.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines make work-life balance tough, especially on critical features. Management often pushes for unrealistic ship dates. This can mean long evenings and weekend work if you're not careful.
Advice to Management: Focus on setting realistic project timelines and better resource allocation. It'd really help prevent burnout for technical staff and improve overall morale.

Okay Flexibility, Room to Improve for Engineers
Pros: I liked the initial hybrid model; it was a decent start for a mid-sized tech company. Getting to work remote from home a couple of days a week helped cut down the Bay Area commute. The team is collaborative during our in-office days.
Cons: The WFH policy got stricter recently, requiring more in-office days than before, which makes work-life balance tougher for software development. It feels less flexible now, especially for those of us living further from the San Francisco office. It's not great for those who value true autonomy.
Advice to Management: Reconsider the stricter hybrid model. More flexibility, especially for engineering roles, would really boost morale and help retain talent in this competitive tech industry. Trust your employees to get the work done regardless of their location, especially given the success of remote work.

Decent pay for tech, but benefits need work
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the San Francisco office, the base salary is pretty competitive for this market. I've seen worse. The 401k match is also a solid perk; it really helps with long-term financial planning.
Cons: However, the health insurance premiums are really high, especially if you have a family. It's tough to justify the cost. For a mid-sized tech company, the bonus structure isn't very transparent either, and stock options are just okay.
Advice to Management: Focus on making health benefits more affordable for everyone. Also, clarify the bonus system so employees know what to expect.
