Okay Work-Life, Depends on Your Team
Pros: I liked the hybrid work model; it's 3 days in the Austin office and 2 WFH. That really helps with commuting. As a Junior Software Engineer, my workload was usually manageable, around 40-45 hours a week.
Cons: Work-life balance here isn't consistent across the board. Some teams, especially those on tight software development deadlines or agile sprints, pull 50+ hour weeks often. It's tough if you land on one of those teams; leadership sometimes pushes too hard.
Advice to Management: Try to ensure a more consistent work-life balance across all engineering teams. Some teams are clearly overworked compared to others, and it burns people out. Review project timelines more realistically.

Job Security is Okay, Not Great
Pros: Projects usually last a while, so you're not constantly looking for new work. As a Software Engineer, I felt pretty stable if I was on a key client project. For an IT firm, they don't do mass layoffs often, more project cycles.
Cons: When client projects end, things can get stressful. Bench time can be nerve-wracking for a Software Engineer. Sometimes there's not much clarity on the next project, which impacts job security.
Advice to Management: Improve communication around upcoming projects and minimize bench time for employees to boost morale and perceived job security. More transparency would help a lot for us in software development.

Job Security is Just Okay at Synoriq
Pros: Some core software development roles feel pretty stable here. As a Software Engineer, I've always had a project to work on, even if it shifts. The benefits for technical roles are solid, which helps.
Cons: Job security at Synoriq feels a bit up and down. Project priorities can change fast, making you wonder what's next. We've seen some team restructures in the Dallas, TX office, which isn't great for peace of mind.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate big project changes and staffing needs more clearly. It would help a lot with employee morale and job security concerns.
