Okay Place, But Culture Needs Work
Pros: I've learned a lot about the restaurant industry here. The training programs are solid for new managers. You get decent benefits and employee discounts, which is a plus for hospitality workers.
Cons: The work-life balance isn't great, honestly. As a Restaurant Manager, I often worked 60+ hour weeks. There's a lot of pressure from corporate to hit numbers, which makes for a pretty cutthroat culture among peers.
Advice to Management: They really need to look at staffing levels and management expectations. It's hard to maintain morale when everyone feels constantly overworked and pressured.

Tough Hours, But Good Team Vibe
Pros: You learn a lot managing a busy restaurant in the hospitality industry. There's a decent employee discount on food, which is a nice perk. The team at my Houston, TX location was generally supportive, which helps on tough days.
Cons: Work flexibility is pretty much non-existent for Restaurant Manager roles. You're always onsite, and weekend shifts are mandatory, making personal planning tough. Forget about anything resembling WFH in this business.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to offer more predictable schedules, especially for managers. Burnout is real in the food and beverage sector when there's no downtime.

Leadership is hit or miss in restaurant ops
Pros: Some general managers are really solid. They actually care about their teams and developing people. You can learn a lot about running a busy restaurant operations from the good ones, especially in a corporate restaurant chain.
Cons: Other GMs don't seem to get leadership at all. Corporate can feel out of touch with the Houston location. This makes it tough for front of house and back of house staff morale.
Advice to Management: Focus on leadership training for GMs across all locations. Standardize expectations for how managers support their teams in restaurant operations. Listen more to the onsite teams.
