Decent Pay, Benefits Could Use an Upgrade

It's an okay place to work, especially if you're just getting started in the tech industry. The pay is decent, but don't expect amazing benefits.

Pros

The base salary for a Software Engineer here is pretty competitive, especially for Austin, TX. I've gotten regular raises, which is good. You get paid bi-weekly, so it's dependable.

Cons

The benefits package feels pretty basic for a mid-size tech company. Health insurance options aren't great, and the 401k match isn't fantastic. There aren't many exciting perks either.

Advice to Management

Look into offering more competitive health insurance plans and a better 401k match. It'll help attract and keep talent in the software development space.

Solid Remote Flex for Software Engineers
Pros: The biggest pro here is definitely the work flexibility. As a remote Software Engineer, I've got a lot of control over my schedule, which is great for personal stuff. They really do embrace a fully remote setup, which isn't always true at other tech startups.
Cons: Sometimes the flexible hours mean inconsistent team syncs, which can be tough. There's also not much structure for in-person collaboration, even if you want it occasionally, since everyone's remote from different time zones.
Advice to Management: Try to implement some core overlapping hours for better team communication. It would help with those inconsistent sync issues.

Solid place, but job security feels shaky
Pros: The actual software development work can be pretty engaging. We use a decent tech stack, and as a Software Engineer, I've learned a lot from my smart colleagues. There's a strong focus on technical solutions, and for a mid-size tech company, they do a good job with tooling.
Cons: Job security is a real concern here; there's always talk about reorgs or layoffs. It's hard to feel settled when things seem to shift so often. I sometimes feel like leadership isn't transparent enough, which creates unnecessary stress.
Advice to Management: Please be more transparent about the company's direction and future plans. Constant reorgs impact morale and make employees, especially in engineering roles, feel like they're on shaky ground. Focus on creating a more stable environment.
