Culture is okay, but needs work

My time at Devoteam has been a mixed bag, particularly when it comes to the company culture. It's not bad, but there's definitely room for improvement in fostering a cohesive environment across the company. As an IT consultant, I've seen both the good and the areas needing work.

Pros

There's a good team vibe within specific project groups. People are generally supportive, which is nice in the IT consulting sector. I've also had decent project exposure as an IT consultant here, which helps with career development.

Cons

The company culture can feel a bit fragmented sometimes, especially across different practices. Communication isn't always great, particularly with hybrid work. It's tough to feel truly connected to the wider mid-sized firm.

Advice to Management

Focus on improving internal communications across all teams and offices. Make sure hybrid work doesn't lead to teams feeling isolated from the overall company vision and culture. Invest in more team-building activities that genuinely foster connection.

Leadership's fine, but growth can be slow
Pros: Some senior managers are really supportive, especially in the Paris office. They care about personal development. You get decent exposure to digital transformation projects, which is good for any IT Consultant.
Cons: Consistency is an issue; leadership varies a lot between teams. Sometimes there's a lack of clear direction on big company goals, which makes navigating your career path tough for consulting roles. The hybrid work model isn't always supported by all leaders.
Advice to Management: Focus on unifying leadership's vision across all teams, especially regarding career progression and flexible work options. Provide clearer roadmaps for consulting roles.

Work-life balance is okay, but project-dependent
Pros: As a Cloud Consultant, I often found project managers who respected my time. It's good for remote work, you can set your own schedule a lot. Sometimes, the workload in IT consulting isn't too heavy.
Cons: Other times, projects demand long hours, especially during tight deadlines. There's pressure to deliver quickly. The work-life balance isn't consistent across all digital transformation projects.
Advice to Management: Standardize project loads and empower managers to push back on unrealistic client expectations. Support true work-life balance for all IT consulting staff.

Pay and Benefits are Just Okay Here
Pros: The initial salary for an IT Consultant in the Paris office felt decent. They offer some standard health benefits, which is fine. It's a mid-sized consulting firm, so you get some stability.
Cons: Raises are pretty small, often not keeping up with inflation. The bonus structure for tech projects isn't very transparent. Don't expect big perks compared to larger IT consulting companies.
Advice to Management: Review the compensation bands and bonus structures, especially for IT consulting staff. Make sure raises are more competitive to retain talent in this industry.
