Okay for Growth if You Drive It Yourself
Pros: You get a lot of exposure to the cloud communications space, which is great for building your resume in SaaS sales. As an Account Executive, I felt like I could learn a ton about the product and market. The remote work setup makes it easy to balance life.
Cons: Formal career progression isn't always clear for some roles, especially mid-level Account Executive positions. It often feels like you have to really push for your next step, and mentorship can be hit or miss depending on your manager. There's not a lot of structured training for internal promotions.
Advice to Management: Invest more in clear career ladders and consistent mentorship programs for all roles, not just engineering. Formalize paths for Account Executives to move up within the SaaS sales organization.

Okay growth if you push for it
Pros: I liked the remote work flexibility; it's a big plus for work-life balance. We worked on interesting cloud software problems, and I learned a lot about the core product. The team culture was mostly supportive among peers.
Cons: Career growth here is tough for individual contributors. There isn't a clear path for Software Engineers to level up unless you constantly seek out new responsibilities. Promotion cycles felt pretty slow, even in this startup environment.
Advice to Management: Build clearer progression paths for Software Engineers and be more transparent about promotion criteria. It'd help with retention.

Pay is Okay, Benefits are Solid
Pros: For a SaaS company, the health insurance is really good. I've found the 401k match pretty solid too, which helps as a remote Software Engineer.
Cons: The base salary for a Software Engineer here isn't top tier compared to bigger tech companies. Don't expect huge annual raises either, which can be tough in a high COL area like San Francisco even if you're remote.
Advice to Management: Management should re-evaluate compensation bands for key technical roles, especially for Software Engineer positions. Keeping up with market rates is crucial to retain talent in the unified communications industry.
