Great Place for Tech Talent to Grow in Fintech
Pros: Lots of chances to learn new tech and develop skills in the fintech space. The engineering teams are really collaborative, and I've always felt supported when tackling complex problems. It's a dynamic environment that keeps you on your toes, which is great for career development.
Cons: Sometimes, with rapid expansion, internal communication can feel a bit scattered between departments. Also, the promotion process, while fair, can seem a little slow compared to some other fast-paced tech companies.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining cross-departmental communication to ensure everyone is on the same page as the company continues to scale. Revisit the promotion pathways to potentially accelerate recognition for high-performing individuals.

Work-Life Balance is Decent, Room for Improvement
Pros: It's pretty good for a tech company. As a Software Engineer, I really appreciated the hybrid model, giving me some WFH days. There's generally no mandatory weekend work, which is a big plus for personal life.
Cons: Sometimes, especially before big releases in the Fintech industry, we have crunch times where you're expected to put in more hours. It's not always a consistent 40-hour week, so you might work past 5 PM often.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scope and deadlines better to avoid frequent crunch periods. Empower team leads to protect their teams' time more effectively, especially for those working in the Amsterdam office.

Career growth is tough for technical roles here
Pros: The work itself in fintech software development is usually pretty interesting, and I've learned a lot technically. My team in the Amsterdam office was solid, with good people to collaborate with daily. Pay and benefits are generally competitive for a corporate software company.
Cons: Career growth for a Software Engineer isn't great. There isn't a clear path to promotion, and it feels like you really have to push hard for any upward movement. I didn't see many opportunities to move into senior or lead roles unless someone left.
Advice to Management: Management should really focus on defining clear career ladders for individual contributors, especially in engineering. It'd help a lot for retention and motivation if people knew how to advance.
