Company Reviews

At Wayve, we’re building a global driving intelligence that learns from data and scales across different vehicles and geographies.

Founded in 2017, we have pioneered an end-to-end AI approach to autonomous driving that is faster to deploy, more flexible by design and built to scale.

We deliver all levels of autonomy, from hands-off and eyes-off driving, to robotaxis. We license and integrate the Wayve AI Driver as a vehicle-agnostic software platform that runs entirely on onboard vehicle compute and native sensors.

Wayve is the first and only AV company to test a single global AI Driver model across more than 500 cities in Europe, North America and Japan.

We’re building autonomy for anyone, in any vehicle, anywhere.

Decent Pay for an AI Startup, Benefits Need Work
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here is pretty solid, especially working in the London office for an AI startup. They do a decent job with stock options too, which is a nice bonus if the autonomous vehicle industry takes off.
Cons: However, the benefits package feels a bit basic compared to some bigger tech companies. Things like the health insurance options aren't top-tier, and the pension contributions could be more generous for UK employees, making it less competitive overall.
Advice to Management: Keep improving the non-salary benefits, especially for longer-term employees. It helps retain talent in the competitive autonomous vehicle industry.

Okay perks, but pay could be better at Wayve.
Pros: I really liked the hybrid model, it made commuting to the London office easier. The company offered good health insurance and a decent equity package for an AI startup. The free snacks and lunches were a nice bonus too.
Cons: The base salary for Software Engineers felt a bit low compared to similar roles in the autonomous driving industry. There wasn't much transparency around how compensation packages were put together. I felt pay raises were slow.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about compensation structures and review base salaries for engineering roles to be competitive in the AI startup market.

Hybrid work is okay, but not truly flexible
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid work arrangement; it's not strictly onsite, which helps a bit. For engineering roles, being able to work from home a couple of days a week is a solid perk. It's good for avoiding the daily London commute sometimes.
Cons: The 'flexible' part often means just hybrid, not truly remote options for most in autonomous driving. There are mandatory in-office days which can make personal planning tough. I wish there was more autonomy over WFH days for those of us not always needing the hardware.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the mandatory in-office days. Allow more discretion for teams where hands-on hardware work isn't constant. True work-life balance comes with more trust in employees to manage their own time.
