Decent Flexibility for Cybersecurity Roles, But Room to Grow
Pros: I've found the hybrid work setup pretty good as a Security Analyst. It's nice to have remote options from Waterloo, only going in a couple times a month. My manager usually understands if I need to flex my hours for personal stuff.
Cons: The on-call rotation for managed detection and response (MDR) can really mess with true flexibility sometimes. It's tough when you're tied to the keyboard even with WFH. Also, it feels like WFH flexibility isn't consistent across all our teams.
Advice to Management: Try to make remote work policies more consistent for all cybersecurity professionals. It'd really help level the playing field for team members.
