Decent Benefits, Pay Could Be Better
Pros: The benefits package is pretty solid here, especially the healthcare and 401k match. For a corporate tech environment, it's competitive enough to keep things comfortable. The hybrid model in the Boston office is also a definite plus for work-life balance.
Cons: Don't expect top-tier base salaries as a Software Engineer, especially when you compare to other tech companies in the area. Raises aren't huge, and stock options aren't what they used to be, which makes compensation feel less exciting in the PLM software industry.
Advice to Management: Review compensation bands for technical roles, particularly for Software Engineers, to ensure they're more competitive with the current tech market in Boston. This would help retain talent in the competitive PLM software and IoT platforms space.

Solid tech, but culture needs attention
Pros: I liked working on some complex enterprise software projects. You get exposure to real-world applications and learn a lot as a Software Engineer. There are smart people here, especially in the Boston office, and the benefits package is decent.
Cons: The company culture is pretty corporate and can feel a little stiff. There's not always a lot of recognition for hard work here. It feels like a big ship that's slow to turn, which can be frustrating. The hybrid model makes team bonding tough.
Advice to Management: Management should really work on improving employee recognition programs. Also, try to foster a more modern, collaborative company culture across all teams, especially with the hybrid setup. Clearer communication on career paths would help too.

Hybrid model has pros and cons for engineers.
Pros: The hybrid model at PTC's Boston office is pretty good. As a Software Engineer, I could usually pick my in-office days which was nice for personal appointments. There's solid flexibility if you need to WFH unexpectedly.
Cons: The problem is some teams push for more in-office time than others, which feels inconsistent. It's tough to coordinate if your manager expects you in 3 days but others only 2. The return-to-office mandates felt a bit forced.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid policy across all engineering teams. Clear expectations on in-office days would really help with planning and team morale.

Culture is okay, but it's changing
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the team collaboration is solid. Folks are generally helpful, especially when you're dealing with complex PLM software projects. We have a good hybrid work model in the Boston office.
Cons: The culture can feel a bit fragmented. There's often a push for more hours than advertised, and some departments are still very siloed. It's hard to feel truly connected across the whole big tech organization.
Advice to Management: Focus on unifying the company culture and breaking down departmental silos. Encourage more cross-functional projects to improve collaboration.

Okay for learning, slow for promotions
Pros: You can learn a lot about industrial IoT and PLM software if you're new to the field. The projects are complex, which means you gain solid experience as a Software Engineer. There's a decent training budget for certifications.
Cons: Career progression felt really slow for technical roles, especially beyond a certain level. It's a very corporate environment, so promotions often felt more about who you knew than actual merit. I didn't see much internal mobility in the Boston office.
Advice to Management: Focus more on clear promotion paths for individual contributors. Make it less about tenure and more about impact for those in the Boston office. Improve transparency around career development.

Pay is Okay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer in Boston, MA is pretty solid; it's competitive. The hybrid work model is a nice perk, offering good flexibility. I've heard the 401k match is decent after you've been here a bit.
Cons: Healthcare plans aren't the best, with high deductibles that really eat into things. Also, stock options don't seem to vest very aggressively compared to other enterprise software companies. It's tough to see long-term growth in total compensation.
Advice to Management: Seriously re-evaluate the health insurance options and make them more employee-friendly. Also, look at improving the stock refreshers and vesting schedules to attract and retain top talent in the competitive PLM software space.

Growth is possible but you have to push for it
Pros: As a Software Engineer at PTC, there's a ton of complex CAD software and IoT platform work to dive into. You can learn new tech if you're proactive and seek it out. The Boston office has some really smart people, so mentorship happens if you look for it.
Cons: Career progression isn't always clear here. You really have to advocate for yourself for promotions, they don't just happen. Sometimes the focus on legacy PLM projects means less chance to work on cutting-edge stuff, and lateral moves can be tough in this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Make career paths more transparent. Help managers actively guide their teams to new opportunities and cross-functional roles.

Decent Tech, Leadership Needs Focus
Pros: I learned a ton about PLM and IoT software. My immediate team, as a Product Manager, was amazing and supportive. The work on new product features was always engaging.
Cons: Upper management communication was often vague about strategy. It felt like leadership didn't always understand the day-to-day challenges of our agile development teams. This impacted project timelines significantly, especially for our CAD software efforts.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent with company direction and product roadmap. Get closer to the teams working on the core CAD and PLM software products to understand their blockers.

Decent place for PLM, but slow growth
Pros: You get solid benefits for a big tech company. The hybrid work model in the Boston office is pretty flexible. It's cool working with cutting-edge PLM software and IoT solutions.
Cons: Career growth feels really slow, especially for Technical Consultant roles. It's hard to move up without someone else leaving, which is frustrating. The base pay isn't as competitive as other tech firms locally.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer internal growth paths for individual contributors, especially for Technical Consultant positions. More opportunities for leading projects would also help.

Okay for Stability, Tough on Career Growth
Pros: I've found job stability here as a Software Engineer, which is nice in the enterprise software space. The benefits package is pretty solid, especially the healthcare options. There's a decent amount of technical learning if you're proactive about it.
Cons: Career growth is really slow for individual contributors, especially in the Boston, MA office. It feels like you hit a ceiling quickly, even if you're good at CAD software development. Opportunities for advancement are rare and often require jumping teams.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer paths for individual contributor growth. Invest more in internal training for new technologies beyond core CAD/PLM products to keep talent engaged.
