Decent work-life balance for design roles
Pros: I've had some really good managers who respect boundaries, which helps with work-life balance as an Associate Designer. The hybrid work model is a big plus for me, letting me split time between home and the NYC office. You usually get your 40 hours in, maybe a bit more during crunch times.
Cons: Sometimes deadlines in the apparel industry can get pretty crazy, especially before collection launches. It's tough to stick to a 5 PM stop when you're pushing to finish samples, and overtime isn't always recognized for salaried employees. Work flexibility isn't consistent across all design teams.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize workload expectations and overtime policies across all design teams. Better planning could reduce last-minute crunches for collection launches.

Pay is Just Okay, Benefits are Solid
Pros: For an Associate Merchandiser, the employee discount on brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein is a nice perk. The health benefits package is pretty comprehensive, which is great for a big corporate company. It helps a bit with the high cost of living in New York, NY.
Cons: The base salary for my role isn't super competitive in the apparel industry, especially for the amount of work we do. It's tough to get significant raises, so pay progression isn't the best here. You'll likely need to switch roles or companies for a big jump.
Advice to Management: Look at market rates more closely for roles like Associate Merchandiser, especially in the NYC office. Competitive salaries would really boost morale and retention.

Leadership at PVH Needs More Consistent Vision
Pros: I've learned a lot about the fashion and apparel industry here. The company's size means there are resources available. Many of my direct managers were really supportive and offered good career growth opportunities within our team.
Cons: Leadership often feels disconnected from daily operations. Decisions can change quickly, making planning tough for marketing roles. There's not always a clear, unified strategy from top leadership across all brands, which can be confusing for teams in the New York City office.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication and a more unified vision from senior leadership. Empower middle management more to make decisions and stick to them. This would really help teams like those in the marketing department.
