Challenging Work with Smart People and Good Flexibility
Pros: Akamai provides challenging work for a Senior Software Engineer in cloud services and cybersecurity. I collaborate with brilliant colleagues on cutting-edge CDN tech. Excellent learning opportunities and the hybrid work model in Cambridge, MA ensure great flexibility and work-life balance.
Cons: Promotions can be slow. While pay and benefits are competitive for this enterprise tech role, sometimes you need to negotiate for top market rates. Internal communication could also improve across different large teams.
Advice to Management: Streamline the promotion process and enhance cross-team communication to help employees feel more valued and connected.

Stable Tech Environment, Great Colleagues
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer here, I really value the stable internet infrastructure and cloud security environment. Colleagues are incredibly smart and supportive, fostering great learning opportunities. The hybrid model in Cambridge, MA works well, and the benefits are competitive. Good job security overall.
Cons: Internal processes can sometimes be slow, and career growth, while possible, feels more gradual than fast-paced. Improvement in internal communication could help.

Decent work flexibility, some bumps though
Pros: I really liked being able to work remote from home. As a Software Engineer, the option to structure my day helped a lot with personal commitments. It's solid for most edge platform development tasks.
Cons: Sometimes team meetings still feel too rigid, making true work flexibility hard. There's also an expectation to be online late if you're working with teams in different time zones.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize meeting times across global teams to truly support work flexibility. It helps everyone avoid late-night calls.
