Pay is Decent, Benefits are Solid
Pros: For remote Technical Consultant roles, the benefits package is pretty good. I really like the health insurance options and the PTO is genuinely generous. It's a solid deal for a big corporate software company.
Cons: The base salary for enterprise content management isn't as competitive as I'd hoped. Raises are slow, and I haven't seen much movement in my compensation even with good performance. There's definitely salary compression for long-term employees.
Advice to Management: Really look at the salary bands for tenured employees. We need to stay competitive in the enterprise software industry to retain good talent.

Okay Flexibility for a Big Company
Pros: I've had a decent experience with the hybrid work model. It's nice to be in the Waterloo, Ontario office a few days, then WFH for the rest. They don't micromanage your hours too much.
Cons: The level of work flexibility really varies by manager, and some teams building enterprise information management software can be less accommodating. It's not a truly remote-first environment.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid work policy across all departments and ensure managers are consistent in offering flexibility. It would help a lot with employee morale.

Okay Benefits, Pay Could Be More Competitive
Pros: The benefits package is solid; I appreciate the health coverage and the remote work stipend. As a Software Engineer working remote, it's nice to have that support. The Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) is also a good perk for long-term employees.
Cons: Salaries for technical roles, especially in enterprise software development, aren't always competitive with other big tech firms. Don't expect huge annual raises either. It feels like they're trying to save a bit on compensation.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the compensation bands for engineering and other technical roles. To attract and retain top talent in the competitive enterprise software space, salaries need to be more in line with current market rates. Keep improving the benefits, they're good.
