Decent for a Corporate, but Expect Hustle
Pros: For an engineering consultancy, the hybrid work model helps. I appreciate the ability to work from home a couple of days a week. It makes the commute to the London office more manageable.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough, especially with big infrastructure projects. As a Project Engineer, you're expected to put in extra hours to hit deadlines. It's not a 40-hour week often, which is typical for a global corporate firm.
Advice to Management: Try to implement better workload distribution to prevent burnout on large infrastructure projects. More support for junior Project Engineers would help a lot.

Decent place, but project work can be intense
Pros: The hybrid work model helps a lot, letting me split time between home and the London office. You get to work on really interesting civil engineering projects, which is a huge plus for career growth. There's good flexibility if you plan ahead for personal appointments.
Cons: As a Project Engineer, project delivery often means crunch time, which can lead to late nights and weekend work. It's hard to maintain consistent work-life balance when client demands pile up. The pressure can build up pretty fast in this consulting engineering environment.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage client expectations and resource allocation. More support during peak project phases would make a big difference for us. Acknowledge and reward efforts beyond just project completion.

Hybrid work is okay, but it's not fully flexible
Pros: The hybrid model is a good start. I can WFH two days a week, which helps with my commute to the London office. It's solid for most admin tasks and helps when I need to focus without interruptions.
Cons: But for actual construction projects, being onsite is often mandatory. It's tough for Project Engineers to truly be flexible when client meetings pop up last minute. The work-life balance isn't always there; you sometimes need to be available outside normal hours.
Advice to Management: Managers should push for more flexibility for engineering roles when not actively on site. Trust your teams more for remote work, especially when deep work is needed. It would really improve overall satisfaction.
