Okay Culture, Big Company Pains
Pros: You'll find some really smart, helpful folks here. As a Software Engineer, my direct team had a solid vibe and we often helped each other out. The hybrid work model is a big plus for work-life balance.
Cons: It's a huge corporate structure, so things move slow. There are a lot of internal silos between different product lines in the financial software industry. This can make cross-functional collaboration pretty frustrating sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to break down the internal silos more effectively. Encourage cross-team initiatives and better communication across product groups. It would really boost morale and innovation.

Okay for now, but growth is slow for tech roles.
Pros: You do learn a lot about financial software development. Teams are usually pretty supportive. I've definitely picked up some solid skills as a Software Engineer. It's a stable global company, which is a plus.
Cons: Career growth for technical roles feels really slow. You can feel stuck at your current level for ages. There aren't many clear paths to move up unless you really push it. Getting a promotion in the London office, especially for senior engineering spots, seems to be an uphill battle.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career paths and open up more opportunities for internal promotion, especially for experienced Software Engineers. Invest in structured mentorship and skills development programs.

Remote work is okay, but policies can be weird.
Pros: I really liked the remote work option for my Software Engineer role. It allowed me to work from Toronto without commuting, which was a huge plus for my work-life balance. We had pretty flexible hours, which is great for a global FinTech company.
Cons: The remote policies weren't always clear, and it felt like individual managers had different rules. Sometimes, despite being remote, there's pressure to be online during specific hours for meetings, even late into my evening due to global teams. The "flexible" part feels a bit forced for some financial software projects.
Advice to Management: Management needs to standardize remote work policies across teams and regions. Clear guidelines would make things much easier for employees trying to balance their schedules.
