Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as a Software Engineer at Cohesity in San Jose, CA. The work in data management and security is genuinely challenging and engaging. I've had tons of opportunities to learn new technologies and grow my skills, which is a huge plus for my career development. The engineering teams are full of smart, collaborative people, and I feel supported by leadership. Compensation and benefits are competitive for the industry, making it a solid tech company to be part of.
Cons: It's a fast-paced environment, so you sometimes get busy periods, especially around major product releases. While leadership is generally strong, communication on company-wide strategic initiatives could sometimes be more consistent across all teams as the company grows. Occasionally, internal approval processes can feel a bit slow, which is pretty typical for a scaling private company in the IT sector.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in clear, consistent communication channels, especially for company-wide strategic shifts. Streamline some of the internal approval processes to maintain agility as Cohesity continues to scale. Also, keep fostering that strong learning culture.

Pros: I appreciate the flexibility of the hybrid work model. As a Software Engineer in the San Jose office, I've found it easier to handle personal stuff compared to fully onsite jobs. Some teams are good about protecting people's time, so you can mostly stick to normal hours.
Cons: Work-life balance here often feels tough, especially when we're crunching on new data management solutions. It's not uncommon to work more than 40 hours a week, and sometimes it feels like leadership expects it. This can be draining.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to protect teams from scope creep and unrealistic deadlines. It impacts the Software Engineer teams' ability to maintain a healthy work-life balance when trying to deliver on enterprise storage solutions.

Pros: My immediate manager was awesome. They really advocated for our team, especially on complex data management projects. There's good remote work flexibility too, which is a big plus for a growing tech company.
Cons: The higher-up leadership changes a lot, which makes getting a consistent vision tough. As a Senior Software Engineer, I felt the direction for new initiatives in cybersecurity software could be clearer. Communication from the top felt a bit scattered sometimes.
Advice to Management: Focus on more consistent communication from executive leadership. A clearer, more stable roadmap for new product development would help everyone.
