Great Culture and Learning for a Tech Career
Pros: Working at Cvent as a Software Engineer has been a really positive experience, especially regarding the company culture. Everyone's super supportive and collaborative, which makes tackling complex projects in event tech a lot easier. There's a strong emphasis on learning and professional development here too; I've had great opportunities to expand my skills with modern software and SaaS platforms while working in a hybrid arrangement at our Tysons Corner, VA office.
Cons: The biggest drawback is sometimes the speed of decision-making. Being a larger company in the event technology space, some internal processes and approvals can feel a bit slow and a little bureaucratic. Also, project timelines can get quite tight around major product releases, leading to occasional busy periods. It's not a deal-breaker, but it'd be great to see more consistent communication on company-wide changes too.
Advice to Management: Continue to foster the strong collaborative culture and explore ways to streamline internal processes to improve efficiency. More transparent communication on company strategy would also be beneficial.

Great Place for Learning and Growth in Event Tech
Pros: Cvent has a genuinely collaborative culture with supportive colleagues. I've found excellent learning opportunities, particularly in digital marketing, which is vital in the event tech SaaS industry. It's a dynamic place to grow my skills and I appreciate the hybrid work option for flexibility. Good team spirit.
Cons: Career progression for individual contributors can feel a bit slow, needing consistent self-advocacy. Also, peak seasons in event technology are demanding, occasionally impacting work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in clearer career pathing for individual contributors and explore ways to better manage workload during peak event seasons to support work-life balance.

Solid Event Tech Company, Good Sales Culture
Pros: I really liked my team as a Sales Executive. Everyone was pretty supportive and we celebrated wins, which helps in a competitive environment. The company has a strong presence in the event tech industry, so you feel like you're working on something impactful. Also, being remote from Texas was a huge plus for my work-life balance.
Cons: It's become a pretty large corporate setting, so sometimes new initiatives feel slow to roll out. The sales targets can be really aggressive, which leads to high pressure during certain quarters. It can be tough to get leadership's attention for new ideas.
Advice to Management: Try to remember the startup roots a bit more. Empower individual contributors and streamline some of the internal processes. Communication from the top down could be better too.
