At Empower, we’ve always been guided by strong values with a focus on helping people achieve the financial freedom they deserve.

It’s been an incredible journey so far, but our story is just getting started.

From the very beginning, we’ve prided ourselves on putting our customers first in everything we do — which will never change. The genesis of Empower dates back to 1891, when our parent company was founded as an insurance firm on the Canadian prairie. After more than a century of expansion and a profound evolution of service offerings, the modern iteration of Empower was launched in 2014. Our past is a big part of who we are as a business, but we continue to invest heavily in our current principles and future endeavors.

Today, as the second-largest recordkeeper¹ in the U.S. and a comprehensive wealth management leader, we proudly serve more than 19 million individuals and over 88,000 different organizations.²

With a constant commitment to growth, innovation and technology, we are fully dedicated to transforming the lives of all Americans. Our personalized tools and solutions are aimed at helping everyone improve their financial confidence so they can pursue their passions and reach their unique goals.

That’s our promise.

Decent Benefits, Pay Could Be Better
Pros: The benefits package is really solid, especially the 401k match for those of us in the financial services industry. Health insurance options are good too, which is a huge plus. The hybrid model helps save some cash on daily commutes in Denver, CO.
Cons: For a Client Service Associate, the starting base pay isn't always super competitive. It's tough to see big salary bumps unless you get promoted, even with good performance. The bonus structure could be clearer.
Advice to Management: Take a closer look at the base salaries for entry to mid-level Client Service Associate roles. Being more transparent about how performance directly impacts bonus amounts would also be helpful for those in the financial services industry.

Decent for some, tough for others.
Pros: I've found the hybrid work model in the Denver office pretty good. You get 2-3 days WFH, which helps with commuting. For most financial services industry roles, the core hours are manageable.
Cons: As a Financial Advisor, client demands can really eat into your personal time. Sometimes the pressure for sales targets makes the work-life balance really tough. It's a big corporate environment, so change can be slow.
Advice to Management: Really look at the workload for client-facing roles. Empower needs to support Financial Advisors more to prevent burnout.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: My direct manager in the Denver, CO office was really solid and always had my back. Some senior leaders have a clear vision for the company in the financial planning industry. It's a big, stable corporate environment with good resources.
Cons: Upper management feels pretty out of touch with what we do as Financial Advisors daily. Decisions often come from the top without much input, which can be frustrating. There isn't always a clear path to advance or get your voice heard by executive leadership.
Advice to Management: Try to get more input from teams on the ground before making big strategic decisions. Managers should also be empowered to make more local changes. Connect more with the Financial Advisors who are directly serving clients.
