Project Manager

Decent work-life balance for project roles
Pros: You can usually stick to a 40-hour week as a Project Manager here in the Fresno office, which is nice. There's a decent hybrid work model that gives some flexibility, which helps with personal appointments. It's solid for a big corporate environment.
Cons: Sometimes projects in the manufacturing sector can really pile up, making it tough to truly disconnect. It's hard to avoid extra hours when deadlines hit, and managers don't always protect your personal time. Weekend work isn't common, but it can happen during critical phases.
Advice to Management: Really encourage managers to respect personal time and help project leads manage their workloads better. That would improve overall well-being.

Decent Flexibility for Office-Based Roles
Pros: As a Manufacturing Engineer, I've got decent hybrid work options for my office days, usually 2-3 WFH days a week. It's good when you need to schedule appointments without burning PTO. For roles that aren't strictly production, there's some understanding.
Cons: If you're in an onsite role, especially on the production floor, work flexibility isn't really an option. Schedules are rigid and it's tough to get time off for personal stuff without advance notice.
Advice to Management: Try to explore more flexible shift options even for some production-adjacent roles. It would help retain talent.

Okay if you're settled, not great for climbing
Pros: You get good job security and the benefits package is decent. The people are usually helpful, and they do offer some hybrid work options. It's a solid, corporate environment.
Cons: Real career growth for an Application Engineer is tough. There aren't many clear paths up, especially within the pump manufacturing division. You often have to leave to move forward, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Management should really work on defining clear career paths for technical roles. Invest more in internal development programs so we don't have to look outside to advance.
