We're a global online visual communications platform on a mission to empower the world to design. Featuring a simple drag-and-drop user interface and a vast range of templates ranging from presentations, documents, websites, social media graphics, posters, apparel to videos, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage, and audio clips, anyone can take an idea and create something beautiful on Canva on any device, from anywhere in the world.
Since our launch in 2013, we’ve had the crazy big goal of making design accessible to everyone. We were founded on the belief that people shouldn't need to understand complex software to unlock their creativity. We’re leveling the playing field and democratizing access to design and visual communication by empowering 100% of the world to communicate in a way that was once limited to the 1%.
We've always had a deeper mission surrounding Canva — which we talk about as our 'simple' two-step plan: to build one of the world’s most valuable companies, and to do the most good we possibly can. We're committed to our core value of Being a Force for Good, so as the value of our company grows, so too does our ability to have a positive impact on the world.

Pros: You don't often worry about layoffs, which is huge in the current tech climate. Being part of a big, fast-growing tech company in the SaaS industry makes you feel secure, especially here in the Sydney office.
Cons: While overall security is good, there's always the typical pressure to perform like any scale-up. Sometimes reorgs can happen quickly, which can create a bit of uncertainty for Product Designer roles, but not usually full layoffs.
Advice to Management: Keep communication clear about strategic shifts to help reduce uncertainty during growth periods. Invest more in internal mobility programs across teams.

Pros: For a SaaS company, Canva offers genuinely great work flexibility. As a Product Designer working remote from Europe, I appreciate the asynchronous nature of many tasks. It helps manage personal life alongside work.
Cons: While flexible, core team meetings often cater to Sydney time. This means early mornings for me sometimes, which isn't ideal despite the overall flexibility. Career progression isn't always clear for remote folks.
Advice to Management: Try to make core meetings more time-zone inclusive for remote teams globally. Clearer paths for career progression in design roles would also help retention.

Pros: I really liked the remote flexibility; being able to work from Austin was a huge plus for my family. The creative platform tools are top-notch, and the team for design roles is pretty supportive. They really do try to offer a good WFH setup.
Cons: Sometimes the workload for product design gets pretty intense, especially with release cycles. It's not always a true 40-hour week, and I often found myself working extra hours to hit tight deadlines. That can be tough on your personal life.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scope better so teams aren't constantly scrambling to meet unrealistic deadlines. A more consistent 40-hour week would really help with burnout for Product Designers.
