Decent Work-Life Balance in Corporate Banking
Pros: It's pretty good for a corporate bank. As a Software Engineer, I've had decent work flexibility. The hybrid work model helps a lot with balancing things.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines get really tight. In the financial services industry, things can be demanding. You don't always hit those 40-hour weeks, especially nearing release.
Advice to Management: Try to provide more consistent project planning and realistic timelines to avoid crunch periods. Support the hybrid work model consistently.

Leadership is a Mixed Bag Here
Pros: As a Branch Manager, I've had good direct managers. They really support you in your financial services career path. The WFH hybrid model works well for many.
Cons: Upper leadership sometimes feels really out of touch. Decisions for retail banking can feel top-down with no clear reasoning. It's tough to feel heard sometimes.
Advice to Management: Upper leadership needs to connect more with frontline employees. Explain strategic decisions better to managers, especially for those in the Cleveland, OH branches. Support your direct reports more.

Relationship Manager

Good starting point, but upward mobility is slow.
Pros: The initial training for new Relationship Managers was solid. You learn a lot about the financial services sector pretty quickly. My colleagues in the Cleveland, OH office were generally good people.
Cons: It's really hard to get promoted here. There isn't a clear path for career growth beyond your initial role, even if you perform well. Internal moves are often blocked, which is frustrating for a corporate bank.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career paths for experienced Relationship Managers. Make internal mobility easier to foster growth and retain talent within KeyBank.
