Solid Cybersecurity Employer with Growth Potential
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer at Fortinet has offered great learning opportunities. The team is collaborative and supportive, and the hybrid work flexibility is a big plus. It's a stable environment, and I've found good avenues for skill development in network security.
Cons: Pay and benefits are competitive, but not always top-tier compared to the broader tech industry in the Bay Area. Also, internal career growth paths and promotion processes can feel a little slow at times.
Advice to Management: Enhance transparency around compensation adjustments and streamline the promotion framework to better recognize and reward high-performing employees more quickly.

Good Place for Cybersecurity Professionals
Pros: Working at Fortinet, a big player in cybersecurity, has been great for my career. I've learned a ton from smart colleagues, especially within my Software Engineer role. The company offers strong job security in the tech industry and a good hybrid work model. The focus on innovation keeps things interesting.
Cons: Sometimes the pace can be a bit demanding, especially when product release cycles are tight. While career growth is there, the promotion process can feel a little slow compared to smaller, faster-moving companies. There are also a lot of approval layers for certain projects.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval processes to speed up project execution and consider ways to accelerate career progression paths for experienced engineers.

Hybrid work's okay, but could be better
Pros: They do offer a hybrid model, which is nice. As a Software Engineer, I could WFH a couple days a week. It definitely helps with the commute to the Sunnyvale, CA office.
Cons: Flexibility isn't great beyond that. You're pretty much expected to be in the office most of the time for core hours. It can be tough to juggle personal stuff with the rigid schedule in corporate cybersecurity.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more flexible hours, not just hybrid days. Trust employees to manage their work and achieve results without such rigid in-office requirements.
