Leadership Can Be a Mixed Bag
Pros: Some direct managers are genuinely great. They really care about their team's growth and support us. As a Software Engineer, I've had good guidance from my immediate lead in the Boston office.
Cons: Upper management often feels pretty disconnected from the day-to-day for engineers. It's tough to get clear decisions sometimes in this big tech company. Project planning can be frustrating due to this lack of clarity.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving communication from the very top down to individual contributor teams. Empower middle management more with decision-making authority for enterprise software development projects.

Career growth feels really slow here
Pros: Job security is pretty solid; it's a big corporate environment so layoffs aren't common. The benefits package is actually decent, especially for healthcare. You can learn a lot about maintaining legacy enterprise software if you're new to the industry.
Cons: Career growth opportunities for a Software Engineer are pretty limited. There's not much room to move up quickly or switch to different software development projects in the Boston office. Innovation feels slow, and we're often stuck on older tech stacks, which makes skill development tough.
Advice to Management: Invest in modernizing the tech stack and create clearer, faster paths for engineering career progression. Encourage more cross-functional or new technology projects.
