Leadership needs to step up communications.
Pros: The team here is generally pretty solid; I made some good friends. As a Software Engineer working remotely from Melbourne, the project work itself was often engaging and I learned a lot in mobile app development. You get a lot of autonomy if you're a self-starter at this startup.
Cons: Leadership really struggles with clear direction, especially regarding product strategy. It felt like we'd pivot constantly without much explanation, which was frustrating for many in engineering roles. There's not enough transparency from the top, and it impacts morale.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing a clearer, more stable product roadmap and communicate it consistently to the engineering and design teams. More transparency about company goals would really help everyone.

Job Security Is Okay, but It's a Startup
Pros: They do have a steady stream of client projects. This keeps things fairly stable for mobile app development roles. As a Software Engineer, I felt my position was generally safe.
Cons: Still, it's a tech startup, so things can change fast. There isn't a huge safety net if a big client leaves. Layoffs elsewhere in the software industry always make you a bit nervous here.
Advice to Management: Keep focusing on diversifying your client portfolio. It would help ease some of the general job security worries within the Melbourne office.
