Solid Place for Software Engineers in Industrial Power
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time here as a Software Engineer in this heavy industrial power systems company. The team in Friedrichshafen is incredibly supportive, and there are always opportunities to learn new tech and develop your skills. It's a stable environment, which I appreciate, and the hybrid work model helps a lot with my personal life.
Cons: Sometimes the internal approval processes can feel a bit slow. Things don't always move as fast as you'd hope, especially with legacy systems, which can be a minor frustration.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval workflows to empower teams to move a bit quicker, especially on projects involving new software development. Reviewing legacy system integration processes could also boost efficiency.

Decent Pay, But Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The base salary for an Electrical Engineer is pretty competitive, especially in the Novi, Michigan area. You get a solid 401k match, which is good for long-term savings. Pay raises are consistent, usually 2-3% annually, which is standard for a large corporate company in the power generation industry.
Cons: Health insurance premiums are quite high, making out-of-pocket costs add up. The paid time off (PTO) policy isn't great, especially for newer employees. It's tough to accrue much PTO when you first start.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the health insurance plans to make them more affordable for employees. Also, consider improving the PTO accrual rates; it would really boost morale across the board.

Okay Work-Life, Depends on Your Team
Pros: I've had pretty consistent 40-hour weeks as a Systems Engineer for most *power generation projects* I worked on. There's a decent holiday package, which helps with burnout. You can sometimes arrange flexible start/end times if your manager is cool with it, especially in the *Friedrichshafen facilities*.
Cons: Sometimes, the deadlines for *industrial applications* can be really tight, meaning mandatory overtime. It's tough to keep a good *work-life balance* during those crunch periods, especially when you're expected to be *onsite* daily. This isn't great for personal commitments.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize workload expectations across different departments and project types. More consistent project planning would really help us avoid those last-minute, mandatory overtime situations. Maybe offer more hybrid options for engineering roles when possible.
