Work-life balance is decent for engineers
Pros: The hybrid work model is a big plus; it lets you get some WFH days in. For a mid-sized tech company, they do a decent job of trying to keep 40-hour weeks. The general culture is pretty supportive.
Cons: When we're in product sprints, as a Software Engineer, the hours can really get long. It's tough to maintain a good work-life balance then, and sometimes deadlines feel unrealistic.
Advice to Management: Try to make sprint planning more realistic. Don't always push for impossible deadlines, especially during software development. Support your engineers better during crunch times.

Okay for a bit, but growth stalls quickly
Pros: As a software engineer here, the initial learning curve was steep but good. I got to work on some cool cloud platform features and learned a lot about modern dev practices.
Cons: Career growth for technical roles really slows down after a couple of years. There aren't many opportunities to move up unless someone leaves, and there's not much of a clear path for senior engineers at this mid-sized tech company.
Advice to Management: Leadership needs to create clearer career paths for engineers. It's tough to see a future when there aren't many opportunities to advance, especially for experienced folks.

Culture's Shifting at this Mid-Sized Tech Company
Pros: I've met some truly smart people here. As a software developer, I really appreciated the collaborative atmosphere on our sprint teams. We had solid WFH options for a while too, which was great for work-life balance.
Cons: Lately, the company culture feels pretty disconnected. There's been a lot of turnover, and leadership doesn't communicate changes well. Our hybrid work model often feels forced, not flexible, especially in the San Francisco office.
Advice to Management: Please focus on rebuilding team trust and transparent communication. It's tough when employees feel out of the loop. Better support for managers would help too.
