Pay is Decent, Benefits are Just Okay
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer in the mobile gaming space is pretty solid, especially for San Francisco. Stock options were a nice perk for a tech startup, offering some upside potential.
Cons: The healthcare benefits weren't great, honestly. It felt like the plans were pretty basic compared to other tech companies. Also, raises and bonuses for engineers weren't super frequent or transparent.
Advice to Management: Review the benefits package, especially healthcare options, to be more competitive. Also, establishing clearer paths for raises and performance-based bonuses would help retain good talent in the game development sector.

Tough to grow if you're not a senior engineer.
Pros: The **mobile gaming industry** is cool, and the tech stack is decent for a **startup**. I learned a lot about scaling for real-time multiplayer. The **remote work** setup from Austin was pretty flexible, which helped with personal stuff.
Cons: As a **software engineer**, there isn't much of a clear path for advancement. It felt like you needed to be a senior or principal to get noticed. Career development just wasn't a priority, making it hard to move up.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career development paths for individual contributors, not just management. Invest in mentorship programs for mid-level engineers.

Good remote options for tech roles.
Pros: They're pretty good with remote work, which was a huge plus for me as a software engineer. It helped a lot with my daily routine and personal life. The setup for working from home is solid.
Cons: Even with the flexibility, project deadlines for game development often meant long hours. It was tough to really disconnect sometimes, making work-life balance a challenge.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project scopes better. More realistic timelines would really improve employee well-being and reduce crunch.
