Leadership at Zenithbyte: It's a Mixed Bag
Pros: My direct managers are generally solid. They're good at protecting the team from top-down noise. As a Software Engineer working remote from Austin, I felt empowered to own my projects.
Cons: Upper management and executive leadership can be pretty disconnected. There's often a lack of clear strategy from the top for our projects in this big tech environment. It's tough to see the long-term vision sometimes.
Advice to Management: Listen more to your mid-level managers and individual contributors. We're the ones doing the work. Clearer communication on company strategy would really help everyone.

Career Growth is a Real Grind Here
Pros: You get to work on some challenging software development projects, which is great for building skills. For experienced Software Engineer roles, the day-to-day work is often engaging. The remote work flexibility is also a big plus.
Cons: Promotion paths feel pretty unclear, especially for individual contributors. There's not much structured mentorship if you're looking to move up or into leadership roles. You really have to push hard for new responsibilities if you're working remote from Seattle.
Advice to Management: Establish clearer career ladders for all roles, especially for remote employees. Invest in more formal mentorship programs to support internal growth and development. Make it easier for people to see what it takes to get to the next level.

Hybrid policy exists, but it's tough to use.
Pros: The official hybrid policy at Zenithbyte looks good on paper. As a Software Engineer, you get two WFH days a week. It's nice to avoid the San Francisco, CA commute sometimes. This definitely helps for personal appointments.
Cons: Actually using the hybrid setup? That's another story. It feels like managers still expect you in the office most days. Collaboration tools aren't always great for remote people. You often miss out on key discussions if you're not physically there.
Advice to Management: Truly empower teams to use the hybrid policy without guilt. Invest more in making remote collaboration seamless. It would really help a lot of us in the software engineering roles.
