Pros: Some of the senior leadership members were really smart. They understood financial compliance and fraud detection well. For a FinTech startup, the initial vision was pretty exciting and drew in good talent as a Software Engineer.
Cons: Direction from upper management often shifted without much warning. It was hard to get consistent feedback on projects. Sometimes leadership set unrealistic timelines for key AI/ML solutions, which was frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to stick to a plan once it's set. Communicate changes clearly and early to the development teams. This helps everyone, especially engineers building core financial compliance platforms.

Pros: As a Data Analyst, I got hands-on with real financial compliance data. It's a fast-paced AI/ML startup, so you learn a lot quickly. Great experience for getting into the RegTech industry.
Cons: After a couple of years, there wasn't much upward movement. Career growth paths for technical roles, especially beyond junior, felt non-existent. You can hit a ceiling fast even in the Chicago office.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career progression frameworks for Data Analyst and software engineering roles. Invest in employee development beyond initial onboarding.
