Job security feels okay, but tech is volatile.
Pros: For a mid-sized tech company, there's decent stability if you're a core contributor. They don't do mass layoffs often, which is good. My team in the Toronto office always felt pretty secure for Software Engineer roles.
Cons: Still, it's the FP&A software industry. Things can shift quickly with market demands. You can't always count on long-term project stability, especially if product priorities change. I've seen some teams get restructured.
Advice to Management: Keep communicating openly about company direction and potential impacts on teams. Transparency helps with job security concerns.

Tough to grow as a consultant at Vena
Pros: I've learned a lot about different industries and advanced financial modeling techniques. The teams are generally solid, and you get decent exposure to our CPM software for clients. It's a good spot to gain SaaS experience.
Cons: The career growth path for an Implementation Consultant isn't really clear. It's hard to move beyond consultant roles, and transitioning into product or other departments feels pretty blocked. Promotion opportunities feel slow in the Toronto office.
Advice to Management: Please make the career paths for Implementation Consultants clearer. It would really help with retention if there were more opportunities to grow into senior roles or switch departments within this mid-sized tech company.

Solid company culture, but needs some work.
Pros: The team camaraderie is great here; you'll find supportive colleagues as a Software Engineer. We often do social events, which helps with bonding in the Toronto office. It's a pretty collaborative environment overall.
Cons: Sometimes the management feels a bit disconnected from daily operations. It can be tough to get clear decisions or see the bigger picture, which impacts transparency. Career paths aren't always super clear for individual contributors.
Advice to Management: Try to be more visible and transparent with the teams, especially regarding company direction and career development for engineering roles. Clearer communication would go a long way.
