Cons: Other engineering teams, especially those focused on new product features for cloud security, often work longer hours. It's not uncommon to see folks online late, and project deadlines can be pretty tight, making it tough to truly unplug.
Advice to Management: Management needs to standardize expectations around work hours across all engineering teams. Promote the good examples of work-life balance from some teams to others, especially those in cloud security development.

Pay is decent, but benefits could be better
Pros: The base salary for a Cybersecurity Analyst in the San Jose, CA office is pretty competitive for a corporate environment. They offer a solid 401k match, which is a big plus for long-term planning. There's also usually a small annual bonus, which helps.
Cons: Health insurance costs are way too high, especially for big tech. It really eats into your take-home pay, and better options would help talent retention for security roles. We don't get unlimited PTO, which feels outdated for a cloud security company.
Advice to Management: Seriously re-evaluate the health insurance options. Lowering employee contributions or offering more affordable plans would make a huge difference in attracting and keeping top cybersecurity talent in Silicon Valley. Also, consider more modern PTO policies.

Growth Can Be Slow for New Engineers Here
Pros: You get solid exposure to cutting-edge cloud security challenges, which is great for learning. Working as an Associate Software Engineer, I've picked up a lot about the cybersecurity industry. The remote work flexibility is also a huge plus, allowing me to WFH.
Cons: Career growth for software engineering roles, specifically for associate levels, isn't very clear. There's no transparent path for promotion, and it feels like you're stuck for a while. Mentorship varies greatly, making it tough to develop without a proactive manager.
Advice to Management: Please define clearer promotion criteria for Associate Software Engineers and invest in formal mentorship programs. It would help a lot with retention and morale for folks in software engineering roles.
