Decent Flexibility, But Could Be Better
Pros: You get some flexibility with start and end times, which is nice for personal appointments. The hybrid work model helps, letting us WFH a couple days a week. It's pretty standard for the IT services industry.
Cons: Full remote options are almost non-existent for most Software Developer roles. It feels like managers still expect you to be always available, even on WFH days. It's not the most flexible environment out there.
Advice to Management: Consider allowing more full-remote positions for experienced Software Developers. Also, set clearer boundaries for communication outside of core hours.

Okay flexibility for IT consultants, but depends
Pros: They do offer a decent hybrid model, which is good for many IT consulting roles. I've been able to work remote a couple days a week from Dallas, TX. Sometimes you can shift your hours if a client isn't super strict.
Cons: True remote work isn't really an option for most, you're expected in the office for client meetings. The 'flexibility' often means just shifting your 40 hours, not necessarily less work. Project deadlines can make it tough to use that flexibility too.
Advice to Management: Really consider offering more full-time remote options for IT consultants who don't need to be client-facing daily. Make sure managers actively support flexible schedules rather than just approving them on paper.

Leadership needs to get more connected
Pros: You get to tackle some pretty interesting projects using modern tech stacks. For software engineers, the actual coding work can be engaging. The remote setup is great, offering solid work-life balance if you manage your tasks well.
Cons: Honestly, leadership struggles with understanding what engineering teams really need. Decisions often come down from above without much input from us. There's not enough clear communication, which makes managing expectations tough.
Advice to Management: Listen to your engineering leads and individual contributors more. Improve transparency around project decisions and resource allocation. Invest in leadership training focused on empathy and technical understanding. Understand the day-to-day for a remote software engineer.
