Solid Experience in Industrial Automation
Pros: Being a Software Engineer at KUKA has been a really positive experience. I've gained deep insights into industrial automation and robotics, a truly engaging industry. My colleagues are incredibly skilled and always ready to collaborate, fostering a supportive team environment. There are ample learning opportunities with fascinating projects, and the company itself is a very stable employer within the manufacturing sector.
Cons: While the technical work is excellent, internal approval processes can sometimes be quite slow, impacting project timelines. Also, career advancement for a Software Engineer here feels a bit gradual. It's a large, established global company, so changes and promotions don't always happen quickly, requiring patience.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining the internal approval workflows to empower teams and accelerate project delivery, especially for innovative software solutions. Consider clearer pathways for career advancement within the engineering department to retain top talent.

Decent Place, but Work-Life Balance Can Be Tricky
Pros: The work itself is really engaging for anyone into industrial automation or robotics. You get to work on cool tech. There's also good pay and benefits, which is a solid plus for onsite work in Shelby Township, MI.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough for Robotics Engineers. Expect longer hours, especially close to project deadlines. Weekends can sometimes get eaten up, and the expectation to always be available is high.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project loads for engineering teams. More respect for personal time would go a long way.

Okay flexibility for industrial automation roles
Pros: For Controls Engineer roles, you sometimes get a bit of wiggle room on start times. It's not totally rigid, especially if you're working on specific robotics projects that need off-hours. Some teams in the Shelby Township office do have a hybrid work option, which is decent.
Cons: True remote work is pretty rare here. Most industrial automation work needs you onsite for testing and commissioning. They don't really trust people to work from home much, so flexibility is often limited.
Advice to Management: Consider more trust for employees who could genuinely work from home for certain tasks. A clearer policy on hybrid schedules would help, especially for those in Controls Engineer roles where some work can be done remotely.
